Installation & Maintenance

Before Installation:
Inspect the flooring before it goes down. If anything looks off with the species, milling, grade, texture, stain color, or finish, raise it with the seller first. Problems that aren’t resolved before installation may not be covered for product, labor, or replacement costs.
Installation:
Follow the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) installation guidelines, available at nwfa.org, and hire an NWFA-certified professional when possible. Installers are responsible for proper layout, and should set aside any boards that look questionable. Engineered products are not recommended for floating installations.
Long-Term Care:
Keep indoor humidity steady year-round, using a hygrometer to monitor it, to prevent cracking, shrinking, and expansion. Put protective pads under furniture and mats at entrances, and avoid rubber-backed rugs.Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a recommended floor cleaner. Limit direct sunlight with sheers or curtains, since UV exposure can darken or bleach the wood.

OUR GUIDE FOR INSTALLATION & CARE
-
Keep doormats/rugs clean.
-
Keep grit off hardwood floors by dust mopping or vacuuming regularly.
-
Wipe up spills promptly. Excessive water can result in damage to your hardwood floors.

To wash, use a neutral cleaner designed specifically for hardwood flooring. We recommend 1 part vinegar, 3 part water using a wrung out mop.
